I love working from the newspapers, they offer a daily banquet of potential material. They engage the present, their subjects are the events and actors on the stage of our daily lives. These are reworked images and pages culled from the papers. They are edited, cropped, erased and redrawn, reframed and refined. Newspapers offer the immediate quality of an item suitable for a time capsule, a mirror or window, a door or portal to our time. When making them it sometimes feels like I'm writing a love letter to the distant future, saying, "This is what it's like here and now-by the way, we used to read our news printed on paper."
